Yes we do! This agreement can be downloaded and printed, and is also available at any of our NDCU branches. All agreements must be read and signed and must accompany your music submission.

Can I submit any music I like?

Please submit your favourite original pieces of music. This is a public site accessed by primarily students and youth. All submissions will be screened for content.

Can I submit music with sampling?

No! Sampling is the use of portions of prior recordings that are incorporated into a new composition. Sampling has become an integral part of many genres of music today, however, when you sample someone's song without permission, it is an instant copyright violation. It is the unauthorized use of a copyrighted material owned by another. Sampling without permission violates two copyrights;

  • The sound recording copyright, owned by the record company
  • The copyright in the song itself, owned by the songwriter or the publishing company

If you want to use a sample legally, you must obtain permission from the copyright owner.

Do I keep the rights to my music?

Yes! You keep, at all times, all the rights to your original music.

I don't want to give away my songs for free!

Then don't! However, you should make at least one song downloadable to make your band or artist page more appealing. We recommend you make at least one song available so that you can get your music heard. How would you like to be walking down Baker Street and hear your original music pumping out of the stereo in a car cruising by?
